Diploma in Secretarial and Office Management

The diploma in office and information management equips graduates with business management skills, information technology and office records management. It combines the key aspects of information technology, accounting, communication skills, customer care, emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship skills. This combination of skills and knowledge prepares graduates to be immediately productive in the modern industry. The DOIM course is intended to produce secretaries with office management skills with business skills capable of managing offices in organizations either employed or self-employed.

Programme Objectives

DSOM graduates are ideally placed to work either in the Business Enterprises, Audit Firms, Consultancy Firms, and Non-Government Organization’s etc. in both the private and public sectors to develop the use of IT in business office administrative work. Others will take up managerial positions in ICT- based sectors, and other positions such as Web-Designers, business planners, systems Analysts, project Managers, office managers/Administrators, Database managers, information managers, network administrators, business analysts and research assistants. Others take up further studies in business computing; while others will use the vocational skills acquired in this course to start up their own business. Possible employers range from consulting firm to ICT users such as the government, banks and insurance industry. The course also trains students to become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses with aid of ICT’s and vocational studies. Other will take up further studies in information technology related courses. 

Direct Entry: A candidate must have five (5) passes at O'Level or its equivalent and 2 principal passes at A'Level obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent
